Gedimno Stulpai (Columns of Gediminas)

During the interwar period (1919 – 1938) the Lithuanian government held a competition, where the best artists competed to draw a beautiful, symbolic deck of cards. It is thought that “Gedimno Stulpai” (Columns of Gediminas) is one of the winning decks. The cards were hand-drawn by an unknown Lithuanian artist in 1930. They were used as a state symbol and include people in national costumes. The kings depict Lithuanian Grand dukes – kings of Lithuania.
