Patternwork Dyed (Bluebells and Butterflies)

Dyed Patternwork is a rich, vibrant coloured deck of playing cards. Months were spent hand-drawing intricate seamless patterns. Inspired by British textile designer William Morris and other traditional tapestries, mixed with Japanese dying and traditional iconography. Each pattern is themed and named after culturally significant Japanese botany and insects. The hand-drawn patterns are woven into the clothes of our custom drawn court cards as well as throughout all of our custom pip (number) cards. The courts are inspired by my nonsense world of literary projects - a world of anthropomorphic animals.
