Liber Ludorum (Special Edition) (Red)

A deck of playing cards with designs based on the art style of the medieval insular gospel books. Liber Ludorum, the book of games. A set of playing cards by Ian Cumpstey, drawn and decorated with the styles and patterns of the great medieval illuminated masterpieces, most famously exemplified by the Lindisfarne Gospels and the Book of Kells. The aces are patterned as miniature carpet pages. The court cards are drawn in the style of the evangelist portraits with illuminated borders, but play on ideas associated with gameplay. All drawn in pen and ink and coloured with watercolour. Special edition of these cards with a new designed tuck box, with gold foil stamped onto coloured card. There are two tuck box colour variants: a claret red and a slate grey.
