Ancient and Modern playing cards are a fully playable pack of cards, with original artwork done in the style of old playing cards. Court cards The court cards are based on the a traditional design from Flanders, originating in the 16th century. (This is called the Flanders pattern, or the Flemish pattern, or the Rouen I pattern -- and is not related to the Rouen II pattern from which standard English playing cards are derived.) The court figures in my interpretation retain all their characteristics, poses, accessories, coats of arms ... but I have redrawn them in a style that is more reminiscent of certain early French cards (and early English cards). The kings and queens are also all named with the traditional names for the Flanders pattern.
